very poor joke about mental health, meta about bad rope educators and trauma
Just remembered one time when @Secondfloor and I were talking to a rope educator about DID and they said they wished they could give it to themselves so they didn’t have to wash their own dishes.
When we were back in the car going home we were both just like “what the actual fuck?” I mean, what an awful thing to say about a condition that is often caused from horrific trauma often endured over an extended period of time.
Anyway, lots of rope educators are assholes, in case you didn’t already know that. I could tell you so many horror stories about how shitty we have been treated by “our community” because of our neurodivergence’s.

@KinkyLotus wooooooooooooow
Yeah, honestly it's just impossible for me to expect any group of people to get trauma and neurodivergence anymore. Even communities that I objectively know have high concentrations of people with both.

@amybones @Secondfloor I don’t know, I guess I just feel like kink communities should have a higher bar for what they expect in their leaders. I mean this guy’s objectively awful and AFAIK still teaches rope in Houston [and on the odd chance anyone reading this is in the Texas kink community, yes I will name names, forever and always. We take care of us.]

@KinkyLotus @Secondfloor yikes
re: very poor joke about mental health
@KinkyLotus hey for the record im not disagreeing that this was a shitty joke for that person to have made but since you appear to be a singlet i thought it important to let you know that "whether or not plurality is exclusively caused by trauma" is a subject of FIERCE debate, both among plurals ourselves and among mental health professionals, and it might be in your best interest to keep statements like this out of neutral tags?
re: very poor joke about mental health
@anonny125 I didn’t mean to give the impression that trauma was the only source of plurality but it definitely was in our case and that had been made clear to the individual who made the joke.
Edited the statement slightly to hopefully clarify better but I still feel like I should be able to write about my own experiences and those of my family.
I’m also a trauma survivor with c-PTSD and some dissociative elements myself.
