Also, while your moderators try to clean up timelines to be usable, do not hesitate to silence accounts you do not wish to see. This is a powerful and intentional feature of Mastodon to allow you to curate what you want to see and there's no shame in muting things you don't like.

in fact, that's a great way to discover bots that you might personally like, if someone you follow finds one of their posts noteworthy enough to boost

Also note that boosting toots is totally fine if you find them interesting and want to share them with your followers.

I've been hiding some high-volume picture bots off the public timeline to make it even remotely possible for you to find real humans in there. Let me know how that feels.

Note that you can still follow these accounts, they are not suspended or "punished" for existing, in any way.

I will go ahead and warn the accounts in question that dozens of random pictures a day will result in silencing off the local timeline. So either they don't or they live with that fact.

@urso @kaelarihm different users also have different needs. Need to find a good balance. Silencing locally means people's accounts do not get found, unless they respond to other people.
