No much happening on this side of the fediverse as it seems. Most accounts have no recent activity while switter is booming.
Maybe I got to dig deeper.
@bedtimedrillsgt yeah true. but switter folks are very active so most hashtag searches are filled with professional content. and I was wondering, who is the audience and why aren't they active too?
@yeahyeahyeah the audience for kinky business? Individuals that are into kink for their personal happiness
@bedtimedrillsgt no :) I meant the audience for all that switter content. I don't think SWs would be so active if their ads wouldn't work. So I would guess lewd and kinky people are visiting/using the fediverse but might not posting.
@yeahyeahyeah oh yeah I agree. It seems like a big advertising platform for sex workers. Which is fine by me, but not the same as a kink community
@bedtimedrillsgt @yeahyeahyeah And it definitely makes hashtag searches a challenge. I tag my kink, and I do searches and a lot of muting of who turns up, but it's still a bit of needle in a haystack.
@naga @bedtimedrillsgt Yeah, I started to mute some bots too. What hashtags are you using?
@yeahyeahyeah @bedtimedrillsgt #bondage, #bdsm, and #kink. I keep the columns pinned, then mute the ads that show up. After a few days, they got pretty clean.
@yeahyeahyeah @bedtimedrillsgt Unfortunately, you can't mute regexes in search columns (say, search for #bdsm but mute #findom).
@naga @bedtimedrillsgt ah damn. I was about to try that too.
@yeahyeahyeah @bedtimedrillsgt Like I said, it works pretty well. The mute/block buttons got a workout for 2 or 3 days, but then it slowed.
@naga @yeahyeahyeah that's interesting
@yeahyeahyeah @bedtimedrillsgt I also use variations on #malechastity , #orgasmdenial , and #orgasmcontrol for my own kinky toots, but there are only so many columns I want pinned.
@yeahyeahyeah hmm slightly different audience too. Switter is for sex workers primarily
